Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were alerted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.

A high-ranking official stated the incident left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
