The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
