A person who laced sweets with sedative and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in July 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepchild alerted the police about his worries.
She said the man went on to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She explained the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
